The Reckless Mind---Intellectuals in Politics(当知识份子遇到政治),里边谈到《理想国》里的一个故事:The Lure of Syracuse(叙拉古的诱惑)。

Professionals or scholars must have political integrity when involving in politic.

If one could influence the government to the right path and bringing the country and its people to excellence, why not?

If the head of the organization is a public enemy, then one shouldn't help the bad leaders to harm or hurt the people.

This is a matter of principle and conscience.

However, for party unity sake, sometime you have to go along with the party decision eventhough you may not agree with the decision.

The struggle between 正邪 is always there, in our heart, between parties' figures. When 正 prevails, the citizens benefit and vice versa. Conscience is much more vital than academic records. But 邪 never can be totally eradicated as it is embedded inside most of us, hence the struggle will last forever.

康华,
Yes, your view is agreed somewhat as it's a reality in life (not just in politic alone); sometimes one would have to bend oneself within the acceptable 'integrity' level in order not to cause detrimental damages to one's interest. However, if the situation becomes 'intolerable' (based on one's consciousness), the only way is 'resigned' from the organization.(or get ready to be sacked or ousted?).

I think it depends on one's conscience,

What control ppl's mind is not politic, it's the best car, best dress, best house.......

Human's need is infinitive.

We, ought to learn how to be contented to what you have.

Frank C,

Will our conscience be overpowered by greed? That's an interesting question. When we are given the same opportunity to corrupt and the temptation to be immoral, will we do the same things? Only ourselves would know.
