政府以2.45亿元收购新SMC。
首相说：不是如所谣传的4.5亿元。
相信若是政府自己招标兴建一所与SMC一模一样的新医院的话，可能就要4.5亿元。
建成後，十年後可能又变成危楼，就像去年QE的新楼那样。
从正面的角度看，如果可以替政府节省一半成本（2.05亿元），又可以用上至少100年，不会在10年内变危楼，那我不如赞成政府买下SMC。
至少也不是当初州政府建议的Khidmat大厦，那可说是最坏的一个建议。
尴尬的是，这是政府第二次向SMC购买医院。
第一次，就是众所周知，原本座落在里卡士的SMC中心，政府买来做妇孺专科中心。
报导说，当年的收购价格是2.7亿元。
SMC拿了这笔钱，取得这块达迈土地，建了和里卡士中心一模一样的新SMC。
相信SMC当初也没想到，搬进新医院作业，大概也没有三、五年，如今竟然又被政府相中收购。
这先后两次的商业交易，应该为SMC赚了不少钱，它又可以另外觅地重建。
不能怪SMC为何要如此做，要怪也应怪政府不争气。
为什么座落在里卡士的原有SMC大厦可以用那么久？而QE的高楼却那么快就成了危楼？
使我想起另一个座落在路阳的医院，也是刚在五、六年前建成的，几年前就开始出现地陷，围墙裂得惊人。
本州在过去一年内出现三座被鉴定为危楼的政府建筑物，分别是QE中央医院、州档案局和JPJ。
路阳医院，不要下一个轮到它？

Likas Hospital, formally SMC, was built during the Berjaya era under SEDCO-led consortium, and not by the present SMC shareholders.
After some years of mismanagement under the government, it was privatised and subsequently owned and operated by the then SMC shareholders comprised of mostly doctors practiced there.
The business then sold to government under the then Datuk Chua Jui Meng, a MCA Minister of Health at the time, for a quick solution to provide health services solely for women and children.
I think that Luyang Clinic may not fall to the same fate as those buildings mentioned if they had done a proper job on the footing of the building.
The peripheral area of the clinic indeed needs a redo to regain public confidence in the health service, at least psychologically.
It’s all the works of “Profit First, People Last” that People are always the losers.

I remember it was then under the state owned Permodalan Bumiputra but was so badly managed with heavy losses, but not too sure how it was sold to the doctors and for how much.
